Note: Certification as registered yachtappraiser is only available as additional certification for the registered maritime broker and marinesurveyor.

Within certification sub groups different categories can be registered.
Categories are not connected to specific standards.
Available certification status
  1. ASSOCIATE certification status: Once off certification for the maximum of 5 years. Certification renewal is not possible. The certificate holder has not yet complied with the certification experience and/or proficiency test.
  2. FULL certification status: Ongoing certification. The certificate holder has complied with all certification tests.
The company and personal professional certification is a combined certification.
The EMCI online quality handbook for marinesurveyors is available and included.

  • Escrow management procedures and use of the EMCI escrow account (additional transaction costs apply)
  • Group service agreements, such as insurance, remote office space, fuel contract
PROFESSIONAL BASIC TRAINING COURSE
All certificateholders have completed the EMCI accredited basic professional education program or at the discretion of EMCI an evidently similar education program. If the applicant  can show a none interrupted experience period of 12 or more years within the requested certification scope dispensation for the basic professional education program can be granted. Professional basic training courses are provided by EMCI accredited institutes. Contact the EMCI accredited institute in your region for specific information and prices. If there is no institute in your region you can consider long distance learning with another institute. If you have completed a study with a non accredited institute you can apply for an individual curriculum accreditation. Additional to the regular costs extra accreditation costs will be charged as quoted. Besides the professional basic training course the candidate marinesurveyor has completed a relevant technical pre-education program or demonstrates at the discretion of EMCI a similar level of knowledge, skills and experience. A completed professional basic training course has a permanent validation.
KNOWLEDGE TEST
The knowledge test is available as online web based open source examination. Under conditions it is possible to participate in a (personal) live knowledge test with an assessor. Application is only allowed if the professional basic training is completed. A completed knowledge test has a validation for 5 years.
Knowledge test Netherlands (Dutch)
  1. Dutch national law, every 1st Monday of the month, 19.30 – 21.30 hrs
  2. Professional knowledge brokerage and entrepreneurship, every 1st Tuesday of the month, 19.30 – 21.30 hrs
  3. Technical yacht knowledge, every 1st Thursday of the month, 19.30 – 21.30 hrs
Knowledge test International (English)
  1. National law (as relevant for the country where the company is based), only available as personal live knowledge test, please contact our office for more information and application.
  2. Professional knowledge brokerage and entrepreneurship, every 1st Tuesday of the month, 19.30 – 21.30 hrs
  3. Technical yacht knowledge, every 1st Thursday of the month, 19.30 – 21.30 hrs
PROFICIENCY TEST / SKILLS TEST
The proficiency test is organized several times per year or at individual request. Application is only allowed if all knowledge test are completed.
Please contact our office for more information and application. A completed proficiency test has a validation for 2 years.
EMCI CONTINUING DEVELOPMENT PROGRAM (CPD PROGRAM)
All EMCI certificate holders must comply with the compulsory EMCI Continuing Development Program.
The CPD program stimulates the permanent learning circle for all EMCI professionals.
All EMCI certificate holders must obtain 12 CPD points per calenderyear.
EMCI RULES FOR THE RIGHT OF COMPLAINT AND DISCIPLINARY ACTION
All EMCI certificate holders must comply with the EMCI rules for the right of complaint and disciplinary action.
